Increase in Bed Bug Reports

Is anyone else seeing a recent upswing in the number of sightings of bed bugs in your facility? If so, what is your protocol for treatment in these cases?

  • Before my taking a director job at a long term care facility i worked in a hospital where most of our bed bug cases were in the emergency room. When they were identified we were to put on proper ppe bag all linen in the room for removal and shut the room down until a outside exterminator came in. My former director even tossed the idea around of certain individuals in the Environmental Services Department being professionally trained to take care of this problem in house instead of having to wait for a outside exterminator to come in hope this helps - Irvin Mcclain

Yes, we are. I'd be happy to share our protocol and I suspect your IPM company can also be of support to you.

And do you think there are truly more bedbugs or just more reports of them?
